Odisha Art Conclave

For the first time in Bhubaneshwar, IPCA (Ila Panda Centre for Arts) organized a two day Odisha Art Conclave which was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Naveen Patnaik on August 29th, 2016 at 6 pm, at Mayfair Convention, Bhubaneshwar in the presence of Dr. Prasanna Kumar Patsani, Hon’ble MP, Lok Sabha, Bhubaneshwar, Shri Sitakant Mahapatra, Chairman, IPCA Advisory Board, Shri Priyadarshi Mishra, Hon’ble MLA, Bhubaneshwar- East and eminent artist Shri Jatin Das - amidst luminaries from the world of art, literature, music, media and society.

Artists, Art Writers, Curators, Critics, Art Historians, Art Promoters, Art Teachers and students from the state as well as from across the country participated and deliberated on various aspects of contemporary art with specific emphasis on Odisha. The discussions highlighted the present status of Odishan and Indian Art in the global context, trends in Art Management, emerging issues of Art and Technology, the needs and requirements of support to emerging artists and the recognition of art as a common bond of humanity. With nearly 250 participants, delegates and guests, the Odisha Art Conclave demonstrated the impact of all stakeholders coming together on one platform.

IPCA felicitated two tribal and folk artists from Odisha -Shri Banu Nayak, tribal folk artist (dhokra metal work) from Kandhamal, and Shri Laxmidhar Mahapatra, Osakothi painter from Ganjam, for their lifetime work and contribution to their fields with a cash award, a shawl and a citation. Both artists contributed an artwork each for the Odisha Art Conclave 2016. Visiting artists contributed their artworks for a brilliant display at the Conclave. Eminent panelists brought their presentations and their papers highlighting the role of art and its importance in civilized society, making the Conclave a hub of debate and discourse.
